Trees
Trees shape the world around us in such a beautiful, ever changing way. Getting lost in the woods is a favourite pastime of mine. It can be a very calming mediative experience providing reprieve from the increasingly frenetic modern world. Woods can create a very immersive experience, often still, but sometimes with the wind rushing through the leaves evoking the sea. I become fascinated with the pockets of space that open and close to the middle distance, and the endless fractural like detail created by a mass of forest twigs and branches criss-crossing each other in never repeating patterns. The constant renewal of the seasons and changing weather mean that there is always something different that catches the eye. They not only provide sanctuary to a complex web of life, but also deeply on an almost primal level to the human soul.
